Uploading films from iMovie to YouTube:

Uploading your films from iMovie to YouTube is easy. Just follow the directions below:

1: In iMovie, click "File", then "Export...".

 

2: Click the "Quicktime" tab, then under "Compress movie for", select "Expert Settings".

 

3: Under "Save As:" type the name of your movie, under "Where:" select "Desktop", under "Export" select "Movie to Quicktime Movie", and under "Use" select "Broadband - High". Then click the "Save" button.

 

4: Open Safari, and browse to www.youtube.com. Then, click the "Account" link in the upper left.

 

5: Now, login with the username and password that your instructor gave you. Then click "Log In".

 

6: Under "Mange My Videos", click "Videos, Favorites and Playlists".

 

7: Click the large yellow "Upload" button on the upper right.

 

8: Now, fill in your details for your movie. The "Title" field should ONLY contain the title of your film.
The "Description" should contain a brief description, followed by the Director and Actors' names. ONLY include Director and Actor, and not crew/editor/etc. This allows for consistancy up uploading films.
"Video Category" is always "Film & Animation"
"Tags" should contain each word of the title, followed by a space. Then, you're genre, followed by a space, and then "student film aae". (Click the screenshot at left for an example.)
Finally, click "Upload a video..."

 

9: Now, click "Choose File", and then select the Desktop, and the quicktime file you created earlier. Then, click Choose, and then "Upload Video". After about 20 minutes, you're film will appear on the YouTube page, and the AAE Digital Film website.
